Casa Batllo is a major landmark of the modernist style in Barcelona. Casa Batllo was built in 1877 and renovated between 1904 and 1906 and is located on the beautiful Passeig de Gràcia. The Casa Battlo was purchased by Josep Battlo who commissioned Gaudí to redevelopment. At first they wanted to tear down the building and build a new house but decided instead to do the renovation.

The Battlo family was known from the textile industry and the family owned several factories in the city. Josep and his wife Amalia Godo Belaunzaran would have a house like no other and therefore gave Gaudí free rein to create what he wanted, the family lived in Casa Battlo until the mid 1950s

Antoni Gaudí changed the original façade with a new composition of colored glass, stone and mosaic and the result is amazing – It’s simply an architectural treasure of Gaudí. The building has five floors, a basement and a little garden in the back and of course the spectacular rooftop from where you have great city views. On the roof you will see the famous dragon, four chimney stacks and a tower topped with a cross.

Casa Battlo functioning today as a museum and gives an amazing insight into Gaudí 's work, so definitely worth a visit. Book your ticket now and get the fast pass access
